“I should wash it yesterday. But I forgot.” Mei half admitted half lied. She was too tired, but not too stupid to give such a simple explanation. For some reason, she cared too much about what the others thought of her.
“Why are your eyes so red? Are you okay?” This time, her father-inlaw asked with concerns. Both of her parents-in-law forgot drinking tea, their confused eyes were looking right into hers, as though they saw Mei for the fi rst time.
“Yeah, I’m fi ne. Just carelessly, a little shampoo got into my eyes. But no worries. They don’t hurt now.” Mei explained with ease, but her heart hurt more each time a word was said.
